Miniature Hallmark Keepsake ornaments were first introduced in 1988.  These tiny collectible ornaments range from under 1 inch to 2 inches in diameter.  The new miniature ornaments came in a variety of designs and materials.  The first three dated miniature ornaments include: "Baby's First Christmas", "Mother", and "Our First Christmas Together".  Baby's First Christmas shows a baby in an old fashioned wooden swing.  The Mother ornament was a red puffed heart design and the Our First Christmas Together ornament was in the shape of a wreath wrapped in red and green fabric ribbon. 



The first four miniature Series ornaments also debuted in 1988.  These include the "Old English Village", "Rocking Horse", "Penguin Pals", and "Kittens in Toyland".   The Rocking Horse  miniature ornaments were adapted from the ever popular Hallmark Keepsake Ornament series.

This ornament is called the Hat Shop.  It is # 7 in the Old English Village series and dated 1994.

 1989 brought about two new Hallmark ornament Series.  The first one shows Mr. and Mrs. Claus in a series called "The Kringles"  The other Hallmark Series ornament is a train series called the "Noel R.R.  The first edition (pictured) is the Locomotive (1989).   This is followed by  the Coal Car (1990), Passenger Car (1991), Box Car ((1992), Flatbed Car (1993), Stock Car (1994), Milk Tank Car (1995) Cookie Car (1996), Candy Car (1997).  
   The first themed group of Hallmark Keepsake miniature ornaments appeared in 1991.  This ornament set is called "Tiny Tea Party".  This adorable set has 6 tiny mice are enjoying tea in their fine porcelain tea set.  It shows a mouse with cookies, another with a sugar cube, one with a stirring spoon, another in a teapot, a creamer, and finally a mouse relaxing in a teacup.  The ornaments are made of fine porcelain.
